GULLIBLE'S BABBLES - 101: Introductory Post

Updated: Sep 26, 2020

ANTI-SOCIALIZING:

I’m not a social person by nature. I’d much rather holdup at home with my dogs and my stuff and putter around on my weird projects. I’m also antisocial-media. Anytime I’ve thought about joining the ranks of the millions, I hear a story reaffirming my original decision to steer clear of the social-media culture.

The only reason I’m lurking around the pages of House of the Unusual is because of Eddie Guevara. I like this guy, he cracks me up, and I want to support his efforts.

GULLIBLE'S BABBLES:

So ... I have been writing a blog called “Gullible’s Babbles” for awhile now. Just little ramblings of innocent recollections, naive miscalculations and minuscule happenings from my youth that ended up being life altering moments for me. Being antisocial-media however, I never posted my blog entries anywhere. They were just something I wrote for myself for my own entertainment — like most of my oddball projects.

In an attempt to add content to Eddie’s site and support him and Joe in their efforts, I’ve agreed to share my ramblings here. (Until I change my mind.)

I don’t expect anyone to actually read these. If you do, I hope you’ll find something in my babbles that you can relate to from your own childhood and share them in the comments.

While Eddie is incapable of being concise when speaking, I have the opposite problem. It seems I’m incapable of writing a brief blog entry.

SHARE YOUR BABBLES:

That said, this concludes my introductory entry — a preface of what is to come and a premature warning and apology for the same. Feel free to ignore me or join in, comment and reminisce with me.

May all your mail-order experiences be disappointing and slow to arrive — just like the good ole days.

Signing off

Gullibly yours —“Gullible

NOTE: This is a silly safe zone where nerdy nostalgia rules and bullies are not welcome. (Unlike grade school.) Life is short. Have fun, keep a sense of humor and be nice to one another.

GULLIBLE’S BABBLES - 113: Mail-order and Dime-store Pets

IMAGE TO COME: The line between pets, toys and novelties was often blurred when I was growing up in the 1960s and 70s. You could literally order living pets by mail through comic books ads and Johnson
